subject: Population Control and the Demise of Man [print this page]

The dwindling population of Europe is probably the result of an efficiently-effective and self imposed birth control programs. Today, in almost all of the grand European states like Germany, Spain, and the other Scandinavian countries, the population growth is almost 0 , with others even having negative register. And this trend in Europe is slowly being introduced, integrated, and reinforced in many other countries in the world by the United Nations.

But what seems to be striking is that , with the dismal drop in people comes the eerie surge in paganism. A phenomenon which even then PM Margaret Thatcher of England keenly observed.

And so we ask: What has become of Europe?

For centuries on end, Europe was a bastion of Christianity and much of its cultural identity, starting from its literature and arts, music and paintings, is the history of Christendom itself. What could have suddenly turned the tide. How and when did it all start?

The French Mathematician Rene Descartes, famous for his philosophical and mathematical acumen, actually started a mode of thinking which elevated human thought over and above anything else. Whereas before him, it was accepted as a given that people were a part of the greater scheme of things, Descartes' Latin dictum " Cogito ergo sum" or "I think therefore I am", revolutionized the premise that the greater scheme of things is just part of ones thinking.

And what a difference it has made. The thinking was so influential that it started the modern age. Modern age did not start with modern technology. It started with the likes of Descartes, who thought of things too big for his own good. Things like, God is nothing, at most an intelligent proposition or hypothesis, and thought is everything. Everything is in the thoughts of man!

Now, what's the connect between birth control and the modern age? To be straight about it, the element of selfishness is present in both. Selfishness borne of only thinking about some relative and personal good. What makes me feel good is good. If I feel good while aborting, or doing adultery, or having sex with the same gender, etc, then that is good.

Incidentally, the essence of modern thought is not original. In fact modern is only modern when one rebels/dislikes against the much older run of things. And this is where the rub comes in.

One rebels against an established order like the fallen angels who rebelled against God; the Jews against Yahweh; the renaissance people against the Church; and now, the modern man against the real essence of life itself i.e. rebelling against himself which will inevitably bring about his own destruction !

Millions die because of abortion today because man thinks of himself as God and destroys human life even in the womb.

Millions die because of promiscuity or immoral sex by way of aids and other sex-related diseases.

Millions of families are broken.

What has become of mankind?

Man doesn't even care to face the truth of his own demise. Are we becoming more and more like the Aztec pagans of old who sacrificed babies in the name of some god who may bring about some measure of prosperity after doing some crude method of population control?

And this is also where modern thought comes in. Even though it is as clear as day that abortions and sexual immoralities are horrible crimes against humanity many are disposed to think that whatever is thought to be right by them is what counts most. Right or wrong is what you think is right or wrong. Truth is not an objective truth.

God who is the source of all truth and good is replaced by the human opinion. I am getting more and more convinced that indeed only fools cry out that there is no God. And all the stats point to this foolishness.

Perhaps, religion may come as a nuisance when it becomes an obstacle to dangerous human whims and caprices, like birth control and abortion and other immoral acts.

But sometimes, human as I am, I ask: Is it really the truth or God or religion that I dislike or rebel against ; or myself, who do not measure up to it. .. no matter how modern my thoughts and my ways have become.
