subject: Are You Going To Kill Your New Rep Who Signed Up Today Or Make Them A Success? [print this page]

What you do with your new rep today will decide their commitment level.

In one of my earlier articles I spoke about how important it is to have a system' in place and that all successful leaders in network marketing have a system' in place that works regardless of them being there or not. Here I'm going to talk about what happens to the person you signed up today.

It is a very important topic and it will determine how fast your team grows and how quickly you can attain financial freedom. You made a presentation to your prospect and showed them the product and the business opportunity. They're ready to sign up and start the business. Let's say you signed up two people today, Paul and Susan. They paid their money and bought a product or service that your company offers.

What happens to him/her in the 1st 24hrs after signing up is very crucial to yours and their success. What do you normally do to a person who just signed up as your downline? Now, Paul is very excited about the business opportunity and wants to attain financial freedom fast. He tells you "I'm willing to do what it takes to make this work for me. Tell me what I should do and I'll start right away" Susan on the other hand tells you "I'll give it a try and see how it goes, I'll spare some time to work on it, I hope we make money from it"

Whatever the case is, in the 1st 24hrs from when they sign up, you need to give them DVDs, VCDs, Audio CDs, welcome kits and reading material that they should read, listen to or watch at home. Don't just hand it to them and say "Please watch this when you get the time" You have to make sure that they understand that it is very important that they go through that information and that it is crucial to their success. Nothing is important unless you make it important. Tell them "Paul, tonight when you get home I want you to go through this welcome kit and watch this DVD that will explain to you what is expected of you if you want to succeed in this business. It is very important information which we will discuss about tomorrow"

This will make Paul take it seriously because you made it sound important to him, remember he is completely excited and raring to go. If he has nothing to see or do in the 1st 24hrs, chances are he'll talk to people about it and get negative feedbacks that will demoralize him. Also when you meet him the next day Paul had better have gone through the information you gave him because you're going to discuss it with him. He'll make sure he goes through it.

Normally the starter kit and other materials should help the new sign up to identify why they joined the business, what they want out of it and how they're going to go about achieving it in the fastest way possible. This starter kit should be given immediately after sign up to everybody who joins your business. This is the system, and will chalk out their journey to attaining financial freedom.

Because Paul is a "I'll do whatever it takes" guy, you want to work with him aggressively and harder while Susan has a laid back "Let's see how it goes" kinda attitude, you'll want to encourage and motivate Susan to get more involved to achieve what she wants from the business. Remember, in network marketing "Results are rewarded, not efforts" which means you can work hard or hardly work at all, your pay check is directly proportionate to how much your team grows.

They are 2 different sign ups with different mindsets. You as their upline have to treat them and mentor them differently as well. You'll eventually want to motivate Susan enough to become a go getter as well. After the 1st 24hrs, when you meet them and they have gone through the information you gave them, you should sit and identify what their dreams are, why they joined the business, what they're willing to do to realize their dreams and how much commitment will be required from their side to make this happen for them.

Set a target and write it down. A target' is goal with a time limit on it. Paul and Susan should both do that, you'll obviously have to go faster with Paul because of his level of enthusiasm and a little slower with Susan until she gets fully involved in it. These 48hrs are very crucial in determining how committed your new sign up will be and it would be wrong on your part as their upline to just leave them alone and meet them after a week of their sign up.

The role of any upline is to guide you to financial freedom, if your upline never welcomed you in this way in the system then you need to find a system somewhere higher and higher in your uplines. Go higher till you find a successful upline who has a system in place and plug yourself into the system, very important!

Successful systems are created by successful people, they run on certain principles and work regardless of the leader being there or not. So, when you find a successful upline using a successful system, don't ask why?' ask how?' A system in place can be duplicated to run in your team anywhere across the globe, so having it is very important when you're signing up hunderds of people every week and can't be there personally.

You should work aggressively with Paul for obvious reasons but you need to work with Susan as well to get her motivated enough to achieve her dreams too. Your goal as a successful upline is to have as many Pauls' in your team and converting Susans' into Pauls. Both these kind of people are important in your team, but the more Pauls you have the faster and stronger your team will be. Having 20,000 Susans in your downline will not help as much as having 100 Pauls. It's not the Quantity of people in your downline it's the Quality of people that matters in the long run to financial freedom.

Finally, recall why you joined the business. Remind your new sign up why they joined the business. Financial freedom will not come with 50% commitment to any business. You and your team have to be serious enough with 110% commitment to do what it takes to achieve it. The system will tell you what and how, follow it! Don't kill the person you signed up today by leaving them alone to find out the do's and the don'ts of your business.
