Now the most important thing is on how to change the themes. Not knowing this will be a big no because you will not be able to apply the themes without this patch.

How to change the original theme in Windows 7 to custom theme:

Patch Uxtheme.dll in Windows 7

1. Download files for uxtheme.dll here: DOWNLOAD

2. Choose either one according to your Windows 7 :

For 32bit(x86)- UniversalThemePatcher-x86.exe

For 64bit(amd64)- UniversalThemePatcher-x64.exe

3. We will need to open the file as an Administrator so right click the .exe and Run as Administrator'. (Run patch with UAC turned off)

4. Different files are patched for different versions of Windows:

XP/2003 only needs to patch one file (uxtheme.dll)

2008/Vista/Windows 7 need to patch 3 files (uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, shsvcs.dll)

Windows 7 6801 need to patch 3 files (uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, themeservice.dll)

Sometimes, in x64 Windows, you need to patch 2 copies of files :

(I have not tested this as im using x86)

using UniversalThemePatcher-x64.exe to patch the 64bit files in windowssystem32;

and using UniversalThemePatcher-x86.exe to patch the 32bit files in windowssyswow64.

5. After patch, Restart computer to take effect.

6. You can run program with argument "-silent" to patch in silent mode.

Now you're done with patching the .dll's and will now be able to apply 3rd party themes to change the look of your Windows 7.
