subject: Mlm Rockstar...it Might Get Loud [print this page] What does it take to be a MLM rockstar? You could learn a few lessons from 3 REAL rockstars.
I recently watched a really cool documentary featuring three legendary guitarists. I found about it from my 14 year old daughter, who is really matured in her musical interests. The DVD, "It Might Get Loud", features Jimmy Paige, 'The Edge', and Jack White. If you are still not sure who I am talking about, think Led Zepplin, U2 and The White Stripes. It is about, how these 3 artists got to where they are today from different countries, eras, and backgrounds. What inspired them, where they recorded some of their works, and what drove them to the guitar. You can pick up a copy at your local library or your favorite store for DVD's. So what does this have to do with your business?
One of the great stories told in the video was how during his early career Jimmy Paige was traveling from town to town with the band he was in, in a van, sleeping on top of the instruments and fighting "bouts of influenza." He felt like he was beating his head against the wall and was thinking of retiring at the ripe age of 15. Now think about that for a minute. Imagine a world without, "Stairway to Heaven", "Kashmir", "Immigrant Song", and "Black Dog", just to name a few. It gives me the shivers thinking about it. What songs are in you? Are you going to give up before your song is played? What if your accomplishments inspire others to greatness? Or brings happiness?
So the First message was: Don't Ever Quit. To many people quit before they give themselves a chance.
Each one of these artist did things in their own style. There wasn't a simple system of "How to Become a Rockstar" that they subscribed to and then BLAMMO they are now rockstars. It was a process for each one. They each have their own style. If you are in a business that stresses duplication as a way to making a large business, understand that to make it big you won't be duplicable. Duplication has it's place but you have to find what is working for you and then take action. Even if someone claims to have a simple system the only system that will ultimately make you rich is YOU, your system. Here's why, other people, other systems make themselves rich and once they are done the systems go away or they no longer put in what is needed to keep it going. So be sure to keep branding yourself, more on that later.
Which brings me to my next point, I don't know what inspired you to start a home business, but it was more than likely one of 3 things, Riches, Time Freedom, or Family, or any combination of all three. That was your first inspiration, the feeling of "YES! I want that!" But what is inspiring you now?
For Jimmy, Edge and Jack, they found something in their soul that drove them past their pain, and pushed them forward in their journey. For Edge it was the war around him, the anthem "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was born out of his pain and anguish, he composed it not because he thought it would make him rich but because he had this passion for what he saw and thought it was horrible and needed to be written and played. What makes you want to get up that never get's old that will keep you driving forward? Find something you love and apply it in your business.
You need to look at your home business creatively, that is what will make you stand out. The White Stripes is a 2 piece band, made up of Jack White, on guitar of course, and his older sister on drums. That is creative! They would get on stage without knowing exactly what songs they were going to play, and just played to the audience. Are you freakin kidding me?!
How do I get creative? If you are asking the question it means you haven't found the passion that is going to keep you in your home business long term. You may need to look outside of your company or sponsor training to find something that someone else is doing that appeals to you. I am not talking about the results they are achieving, but what it is they are doing. Most people don't like to wander around in shopping malls to market their business, but let's say you did. That was your passion. That is what you got up everyday. People would see that, and say, "Hey I want to join that person!" Why? Because of the passion and you would find creative ways of approaching people to show them your home business. But seriously, there are some great ways to market on the internet. If that is what you want to do, find the strategy that you have passion for and get creative!
There was a scene in the video that showed Jack White playing and there was blood on the guitar from his fingers. He was working hard. Do you think he even thought about putting the guitar down, and stopping the show?
Get inspired....Get Creative....Persevere...and have the determination to ROCK your own show!
