subject: The Spanish City Of Altea [print this page]

One of the most popular tourist resorts on the Costa Blanca map and in the province of Alicante, Spain, Altea is a truly unique resort town which has stood the test of time, for over fifty years. This has meant that it has become one of the top choices of most of the visitors who plan a trip to the region. Another oddity of the town is the fact that despite all this, and despite becoming a modern resort city, it has managed to retain much of its quaint old charm.

And despite retaining this old world charm, it is not a secluded hermit town prizing its gifts. In fact it is one of the most well connected towns in the region. The city is connected to three International airports, the Valencia, Murcia and Alicante Airports, to ensure a steady flow of international visitors. To service the local tourists, the town is connected by road to several major motorways that not only link it up to the closest resorts but also to farther parts of the country.

The major concern of the tourist who has set his or her mind on visiting Altea, however, is not going to be the town's accessibility but the availability of suitable living quarters. Fortunately, for these people, the town has developed an abundant degree of accommodation to suit all types of visitors. Tourists can now not only find traditional hotels to take up residence in but also find many villas, apartments, hostels and even camping sites and motor homes to their liking, a far cry from the situation here not more than a few decades ago.

Another services industry that has seen phenomenal development has been that of car hire. Due to the region's geographical and economical limitations, the town does not have any public transport to speak of and the car hire industry has developed to cater precisely to the market left vacant by this absence of public transport. And whilst tourists can hire cars of their own choosing at any time, it is advised that they research their choices to avoid being fleeced.

And for tourists who have not yet made up their minds about visiting this beautiful and scenic resort city, much persuasion can be found in the city's natural and not-so-natural charms. For one, it has an envious gastronomy, with servings in everything from Spanish and French Specialties to Sub-Continental Cuisines. The weather that the town enjoys is also, in a similar manner, very envious with moderate climes and sunshine throughout the year with the occasional sprinkle here and there.

But besides this, Altea also enjoys a rich cultural heritage and an equally rich back drop as well. Where one can find edifices of people and civilizations long gone strewn all around the town, the natural landscaping done by the alternating greens and whites of the mountains and beaches also ensure that there is always something for everyone.
