subject: Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Dealing With The Pain [print this page]

If you are one of the unfortunate estimated 2% of the population who suffer from fibromyalgia you will be on a constant mission to seek out methods of fibromyalgia pain relief. Fibromyalgia syndrome (FS) is a painful condition which, if left untreated, is life altering. Those who suffer form fibromyalgia will suffer from a range of complaints including chronic muscle pain, joint pain, fatigue, sleeping problems and sometimes, even depression. There have also been reports of people suffering from numbness and tingling sensations, swelling of the feet and hands, headaches, problems with short term memory and bladder and bowel complaints.

One of the difficulties of suffering from fibromyalgia is that whilst it does not cause any visible inflammation in any part of the body it can have an enormous effect on the quality of life you enjoy. So, what can we do about relieving pain from fibromyalgia? There are a number of theories on how we can best combat the constant pain and discomfort caused by this condition, some of which are addressed in this article.

Believe it or not something as simple as looking at your diet can help! If you are busy with life and regularly eat lots of junk or 'convenience' food then, a switch to a healthier diet involving fresh green vegetables and fruit and avoiding foods high in saturated fats such as most takeaway foods will not only make you feel better but it can help address one of the common problems with fibromyalgia which is excessive fatigue.

Along similar lines, another solution to fibromyalgia pain relief is to ensure that you get into good sleeping patterns and employ sensible but efficient ways of ensuring that you maximize your chances of enjoying a good night's sleep. You should avoid cat naps in the middle of the day and refrain from intake of caffeine in the later afternoon and evening. If you are eating good nourishing food and sleeping regularly and well, that will go a long way towards providing some fibromyalgia pain relief.

In addition, regular exercise is recommended. You may think that this sounds barbaric, the very thought of exercising an already painful body. The fact is however, that although this might prove a little painful at first, regular controlled amounts of exercise can help relieve the pain from fibromyalgia and reduce stress, which is also thought to be a major factor for people suffering from pain caused by fibromyalgia, sciatica and arthritis. The secret as with all such things is to start by taking it easy and slowly build up your exercise routine in a controlled fashion.

Obviously you should not necessarily try to do all of this alone either. If you want sustainable fibromyalgia pain relief you should also consider consulting a physical therapist who can not only help you plan an exercise routine and put you in touch with the right people to advise on diet and sleep patterns, but also advise on other methods of dealing with pain such as regular yoga and meditation. These disciplines will also assist you in dealing with stress, often one of the underlying causes of the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

So, although there are undoubtedly medications that can help you relieve pain caused by fibromyalgia and these will provide you with short term relief, for long term and sustainable fibromyalgia pain relief you should consider seriously implementing natural and safe ways of helping alleviate your pain and suffering by employing some or all of the above techniques.
