subject: Cna Nursing Jobs-a Potential Career Prospective To Consider [print this page]

Quite rarely do people consider nursing as a plausible career. If one is caring, responsible and helpful then nursing can prove quite fruitful as well as an enjoyable experience for him. Anyone who is considering nursing as a potential career should look into the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) nursing job. The CNA should be on the top of the list as nursing job if anyone is interested in becoming a nurse.

CNAs usually have to follow the instructions of nurses instead of the doctors. The everyday tasks of a CNA involve taking care of a designated patient round the clock. This may include chores from feeding to cleaning the patient, monitoring his health, administering the medication on time etc. Thus, basically a CNA has to take complete care of a patient or a person who is unable to take care of himself and requires someone else"s care.

The academic process of training and learning in order to become a successful CNA takes round about six to twelve weeks. There are special course classes and medical facilities that provide this kind of education. The next step, once the education is completed, is to start working in a medical facility that will allow you to be in contact with the patients on daily basis. Though, these are the basic rules, the precise requirements of becoming a CNA may differ from state to state and one should check these up before adopting the career.

Once on a shift, your designated patient should be the epicenter of your complete attention. This requires devotion and one has to be a people person to go along with such a job. Helping and caring for the same patients every day, develops in you a caring habit and it becomes a routine.

Talking in terms of shift timings and shift changes, there are no rigid timings for CNA. It is more of a round the clock job and anyone who considers being a CNA should be ready to take such a pounding and has to be flexible with regard to his time. Although, preplanned timing schedules are made by the concerned facility for the convenience of CNAs, still one can expect to be asked to stay longer than usual or even do a double shift in case of an emergency.

Alongside, gaining the benefit of your heart"s content by helping others, CNA also proves to be a beneficial career in monetary terms. Even after such a short training time, the average CNA gets a starting salary of $30,000-$40,000 per year. This may not seem much at a glance, but this is only the average starting pay and it increases as the CNA gains experience in his field of work. It also depends on the place where a CNA decides to work. Working in the hospital is most profitable rather than working at nursing homes. Another advantage that CNAs have is that their jobs are not affected by recession or any other economic calamity.
