subject: A Guy's Guide To The Most Realistic Sports Movies In History [print this page]

Over the years, there have been some incredible football movies. Football is a sport that requires teamwork, sacrifice and enormous dedication, and when a film can encompass all of these elements, and more, it usually results in a great and memorable movie.

Regardless of the emotion the film may cause you to elicit, here is what I feel to be the best football films in recent memory.

The Blind Side is a movie that I will remember for years to come, football movie or not. The film did a great job depicting the story of Michael Oher, as told in the novel of the same name my Michael Lewis (also wrote Moneyball, a fantastic novel that is being turned into a feature film.

The Program is a movie that shows audiences everything that the NCAA does not want us to see. Issues such as steroids, bribes, drugs, and covering up failed tests are all brought up in this movie, so it may not be the best film to watch with the family.

Another film that definitely has to make my list is Friday Night Lights. I have been meaning to start watching the television series, which many of my friends swear by, and if its anything like the movie, then consider me in.

How could anyone make a list of the best football films and not include Rudy? This film is a classic. For anyone who ever thought they couldn't accomplish their dreams, Rudy is the film for them. This is an incredible story about reaching your goals, no matter how hard the road may be.

Any Given Sunday, features one of the greatest movie speeches of all time in the now famous Al Pacino "Peace With Inches" speech. This movie also features an incredible cast, adding Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx and Dennis Quaid to name a few.

As it stands, this is the list. But with football movies coming out so often, it is bound to change eventually.
