Activities
Adventure is what you come to Honnemardu and adventure is what you get! Ride on a Coracle, a traditional circular boat made of bamboo and buffalo hide that looks rather clumsy but is in fact very stable, across the lake to the small island. Explore the island and stay at the dome tents. It is a
wonderful experience to lie under the starlit sky and hear the soft lapping sound of the small waves. Honnermadu- a lake with an island is the best tourist spot and is well known for its water sports- kayaking, boating and swimming. Apart from a destination for adventure buffs it is also a bird watchers paradise with a large variety of different species of birds and butterflies.

Bangalore International airport is at a distance of 379 kms from Honnemardu and is the closest airport. From here you would need to hire a taxi.
How to get there by Rail
The closest railhead is Shimoga Town which approximately 80 kms and a 2 hour drive away from Honnemardu. From here you would have to take a jeep to cover the rest of your journey.
How to get there by Bus
Jeeps are the only vehicles that can go all the way upto Honnemardu. KSRTC buses go to Talguppa and from here you would have to catch a jeep for the rest of the journey. It is connected to Shimoga and Bangalore by deluxe private bus services.
Best time to Visit
Avoid the rainy season, otherwise it is an all year destination although the most favoured time is post monsoon.

Jog Falls is 26 kms away and consists of four falls-Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer. It is the second highest waterfall in India and is a delight to watch.
