subject: What Designer Handbags Are Made Of [print this page]

"Women are fond of a lot of fashion accessories and one of these fashion accessories are handbags. Let's talk about this fad.

Leather has been one of the most popular material used in making these handbags. The reason is since leather is durable and flexible. This means that it can easily be molded in any shape but it doesn't mean that it can easily break. Leathers can easily be dyed too. It also has many sorts like full-grain leather, top-grain leather-based, corrected-grain leather, and split leather. You can find also some little-known kinds like buckskin or brained leather-based, the glossy patent leather, shagreen which comes from stingray skin, vachetta leather-based for trimmings, slink leather-based from unborn calves, the tough deerskin, nubuck which has been sanded, belting leather-based, and nappa leather-based. There are also some typesthat have been bonded with synthetic components like bonded or reconstituted leather made from scrap from tanneries, and bycast leather which has a layer of polyurethane.

There are also handbags that are made of satin or even velvet which is perfect for evening events. You can find countless forms of cloth being utilized for handbags nowadays. The most popular is canvas simply because of its toughness. The softer forms of cloth may be utilized if they use a stronger type of cloth as the base materials.

Some designers also use indigenous components which could be woven to make them stronger. Indigenous components are more lovely if their natural colors are maintained. They will just be coated with special varnishes. Some designers dye these indigenous components into diverse colors. Painting them isn't advisable as they'll flake off after some time. It is not also immune to scrapes and scratches.

Beads were quite popular in the seventies. The beauty of using beads comes from the quality of the glass. In certain angles, they catch the light and reflect. The translucence of glass is also very stunning. Variations of the bead have already been tried. Wooden beads make the material flexible and at the same time display the quality of wood. African inspired themes are usually the trend for wood.

Synthetic leather has also become popular since it can carry a metallic sheen without the rigidity of the real thing. Synthetic leather has markedly improved from the early ones that peel off after some time. This material used to be seen as cheap because they just imitate the look and feel of leather without taking on its durability. But the new materials now have the feel of leather and the look of auto finish or even chrome. And they are as strong as the real thing. Of course, nothing ages as gracefully as leather.
