subject: Cleaning Car Regularly Keeps Car Value High [print this page]

When I was 10 one of my chores was cleaning and washing our family van. I got paid a whole $1.00, which I felt was very generous back in the day. As I aged, however, the pay started being a little less exciting.

I decided to come up with a plan. I would tell my dad that it wasn't actually necessary for me to clean the car. Wasn't that what rain was for? To wash off all the dirt anyways?

When I told my dad about my desire to let the rain clean the car instead of me, my sponge, and my bucket of soapy water, he didn't agree with me. I dragged my feet, but he was pretty stern. It was my responsibility and I needed to keep the van looking good.

I of course decided to keep getting my $1 wages. Now that I am older I can see the wisdom of my dad's words. It is very important to have a clean car.

You need to take good care of your car. Keeping your car clean now will keep its value high. A lot of value comes from your car's appearance.

Clean the bugs off of your car. Smashed up bugs have acid in them, which can corrode your car's paint. Rust can also build up on your car if it is not cleaned. While these problems can be fixed by Utah auto repair shops it is always better to keep it clean in the first place and then you don't have to worry about having to deal with problems later.

It is also important to keep on top of your car's cleanliness for safety reasons. After driving your car can have a lot of grime on its tires that has the possibility of corroding the tires. If you want to save yourself a trip to your local Utah auto repair shop, wash down your car. For example, rock salt is used a lot on roads to prevent ice from forming, so you can avoid a trip to your Utah auto repair shop by washing down your tires so they won't corrode from the salt.

Remember that you need to keep your car clean. If you choose to have your children do the chore for you, however, I have one recommendation for you. Pay then more than $1.00 if you want them to cooperate with you.
