subject: 5 Reasons To Help You Make Up Your Mind About Leaving The Uk [print this page]

Being born and bred in the UK can make it difficult if you're thinking about leaving. Once you get over the fact you won't be seeing your friends and family every week or you'll be leaving the security of your job, the final hurdle comes when you're actually preparing to leave and you realise you'll know longer be able to call yourself a UK resident.

People have such a great urge to come to the UK, that should you really be considering leaving?

And the truth is no one can make that decision but you.

However, what others can do is give you reasons to prove you are making the right decision and these five reasons all explain why a move to a different country is always going to be the right decision.

1. You don't need to live here - what some people can't get out of their head is that as they were born in the UK, they need to call it home. As Brits, we're naturally loyal people and although were not as openly patriotic as other countries, we generally love being a UK resident.

But, that's not to say that you have some obligation to stay here. Remember, you only live once, so if you've got an opportunity to move, you should do so without much deliberation.

2. You can experience a whole new culture - going on holiday to a different country is a great way to temporarily see a different culture, but imagine how great it would be if you were granted a Canada visa and could fully immerse yourself in the country's lifestyle.

Yes, it's a little scary, but no one could argue it's exhilarating and gives you an adrenalin rush.

3. You no longer have to worry about high unemployment rates - the UK currently has around two and a half million people of working age unemployed, a figure that is particularly high for the country.

Compare this to somewhere else around the world such as Australia and their unemployment rate stands at 5.2 percent as of June 2010, which is almost 3 percent less than the UK's.

4. You'll get more for your money - living in the UK may have its benefits, but it also has some massive downfalls, most notably the cost of living (which varies massively around the country).

It's difficult to compare the cost of living from country to country due to the regional differences, but it is generally accepted that unless you live in London, apply for an Australia or Canada visa and you'll see a distinct drop in your monthly expenditure in almost all areas (as a very basic example, move to Canada and you'll save yourself the often annoying fee of a television license - the country doesn't have one).

5. It gives you something to tell the grandkids - it's a simple fact, but by moving out of the UK, it makes your life all that more interesting and gives you something to tell your friends and family, as well as for making the perfect story to tell your grandkids when they want to know about their family history.
