subject: Christians Is Jealousy A Sin? [print this page]

Jealousy is rooted in fear more than anything else. The instinct of jealousy comes from a place of low self-esteem and really poor communication skills. It is very attractive and a huge turn-off to have a jealous. If the expression of jealousy is angry and disrespectful, than yes, it is a sin. Jealousy seems to come to us naturally. If we are strong, we will acknowledge why, dismiss it, and get back to the necessary place of love and respect.

When we use the word "jealous," we use it in the sense Christian Louboutin of being envious of someone who has something we do not have. A person might be jealous or envious of another person because he or she has a nice car or home.Or a person might be jealous or envious of another person because of some ability or skill that other person has. Another example would be that one person might be jealous or envious of another because of his or her beauty.

God is possessive of the worship and service that belong to Him. It is a sin (as God points out in this commandment) to worship or serve anything other than God. It is a sin when we desire, or we are envious, or we are jealous of someone because he has something that we do not have. It is a different use of the word jealous when God says He is jealous.

I believe that jealousy is a God-given emotion. To be jealous of your own is not the same as coveting what belongs to someone else. I think the actual feeling of being jealous is not a sin but I agree with you on the fact that acting in a sinful way because of your jealousy is a sin.I think that it is ok to be jealous of these things, with relation to God...that He continues to entrust us. To covet someone elses wealth, position, or relationships is a sin.
