subject: 5 Things To Consider That Might Ruin Your Website [print this page]

Having a website means that you are privileged to several rights. You, for instance, are allowed to put the URL of the site all over the windows of your car in the hopes that somebody will see it, go to your site, and buy what you are selling. You are also allowed to put various things on your website even if they are unrelated to what you are selling. You can post photos of yourself, your family, your pets, and just about anything under the sun.

But I think the best right (and duty) that you as the website owner has is to make the website profitable and successful. In the same way, it is also your rate to make the website fail. Here are five ways by which you can do this.

Do not put fresh content on your website:

Avoid doing anything new to your website so that the visitors you have today will come back after a year and still see the same things on it. Do not update anything. This is the best way to tell your visitors that you have no care at all for the website and that you are not trying to entice their attention. If they see your website advertised in the future, they will surely not visit it.

Put so much clutter on your website:

No visitor will spend so much time on a website that is too cluttered and difficult to go through. If you would like people to avoid going to your site, the best way to do this is by filling up the homepage with all sorts of junk. You can also work to hide the links going to other pages on the website. Include so many unrelated pictures, pop-up ads, and annoying banners while you are at it. Make sure that the information your visitors want is hard to find and fill up the pages with programs that you would like your visitors to try out. This will ensure no visitors at all.

Make sure that your product is crappy:

Having a good product will improve your reputation and people will want to keep buying from you and tell their friends about you. To avoid this, never sell good products. This will give you a reputation so bad that nobody will even visit your site.

Avoid advertising your website:

Advertising is an investment which will eventually pay off for your site and cause an increase in traffic. Since this is something you want to avoid, stay away from all forms of advertisements. You can just choose to use the same old programs that do not work. This will bring you no increase in traffic whatsoever and those you do reach will not likely be part of your target audience.

Ignore all questions:

Finally, you should never answer any emails with questions about what you are selling. If you reply, your potential customers might think that you are professional and would like to deal with them. Simply delete these emails and do not even read them. This is a sure-fire way to drive people into the hands of your competitors.
