subject: The Makings Of A Good Prospector [print this page]

Man craves for many things today, and top of the list are all things precious and shiny- gold, silver, titanium and many others. These are not at all cheap and without a couple thousands, you wouldn't get yourself the best quality. One reason for their expensive prices is the difficulty of discovering them. To strike gold means you dedicate your life to a gold-hunt expedition, in the hope of running into a source that hasn't been discovered. But what precisely is the starting point?

Well, a dedicated mind would be the first place to start. Finding gold or a metal ore is something that will happen spontaneously. Since you can therefore not be able to calculate the amount of time you will need, it needs to be something of a lifelong ambition. Technology has infiltrated the science of prospective, but not by disregarding the traditionally methods that have previously been used.

If there is one place that lady luck has the biggest say, then it's with prospecting. Most success cases, if not all, have been as a result of accidental stumbling of a mine or an ore. No matter how good your math is, you cannot be able to calculate the location of a potential source of gold or iron. So pressing forward without loosing hope is kind of the prospectors' motto.

You heavily rely on luck as a prospector, but not exclusively. With fields of study such as geology, attending the courses, like prospective technology, and getting some training can stack the odds in your favor when it comes to prospecting. With enough background knowledge, you can be able to carry out some analysis and rule out a source as an unlikely possibility of becoming a huge mine. Besides the knowledge, you need some tools as well, like shovels and carrying sticks.

Some of the tools for the trade include shovels and carrying picks. More important equipment is a metal detector. It can help you discover buried nuggets of gold, if they are not too deep in the soil. A keen ear is desired in this case, since that is what you rely on the most.

The thing with an expedition is that failure stares you in the eye. But that is not a limiting factor since against all odds, prospectors have been successful in the past, and have bursting bank accounts to show for it. So besides being a potential way to make you rich, it is one way to have a life of adventure.
