New Brunswick Cottages and Hotels-Sightseeing Among the Tides

Once you've checked into your cottage or hotel in New Brunswick, you might want to ask your desk clerk for directions to The Hopewell Rocks. This massive and popular tourist attraction is only accessible during low tides. They are located in the Bay of Fundy and are sometimes called the Flowerpot Rocks because of their shapes.

Hundreds of years of high tides, wind, and rain have worn away or worn down the red stone cliffs, making the amazing formations. They sit within an easy 40km commute from Moncton. The area is open to tourists from the middle of May to the middle of October, and there are large parking lots to accommodate visitors. Checking out the gift shop and restaurants will complete a perfect day trip for you and your family. There is a shuttle bus for those who choose or can't walk to the beach, to take you there.

A metal staircase allows access to the ocean floor when the tide is out. Located just west of this staircase are the pillars names Castle Cove and Big Cove, It should go without saying that comfortable walking shoes are a must when touring the Rocks.

Be very aware of the posted visiting hours. The last thing you want to do is to be caught exploring on the ocean floor when the tide is coming back in. All New Brunswick cottages and hotels are able to give up to the minute information on the ever changing tide schedule. So ask before you venture out since your life could depend on it. Maps are also available to some of the more famous formations along the beach including the Lover's Arch, the dinosaur, the bear or ET.
