More and more people prefer shopping for furnitures than choosing the right accessory to hang on their walls at home. As simple as hanging a picture frame may sound easy but is a daunting task to many. This is because decorating walls are much harder due to the fact that what goes on the wall should coordinate well with the rest of the design in the home. A common mistake is that we tend to treat walls as separate parts of any design and as a result it creates a challenge where the wall does not match with existing designs of the rest of the room. Here are some fool proof ideas for accenting any wall in any room in your home:

1. Bathrooms Coordinate ceramic or tile fixtures with the room's color scheme and design. One example is, if you choose a beach design, you can add some starfish, shells, or utilize a corner part of netting to add to the beach motif. Try to find authentic items on the beach instead of using objects made from synthetic materials. Match cupboards, countertops, mirrors and fixtures with similar design or pattern that you have on your towel bars, soap dishes, and other accessories.

2. Hallways Hallway walls are great areas to use to add accent to the rest of the room. Use color on the walls that connect the overall color scheme in the rest of house. For country style designs you can embellish using rustic barnyard or woodland prints with matching or coordinating frames. Any plants can help add a country feel to the area. Another fun feature if you have enough wall space is adding a large indoor water feature. Indoor water fountains are modern and sophisticated accessories that would create a relaxing atmosphere in the home.Water features are great accent pieces and can be use to divide large spaces into several areas.

3. Bedrooms - Fresh flowers, draperies, and family photographs are all attractive and meaningful additions to the bedroom walls. Choose designs that reflect your mood or personality from sentimental, romantic, to even whimsical themes. You can hang a bulletin board in the kids rooms for collecting favorite trading cards, notes, friends' photos. Posters are another kids' favorite, display trophies, plaques, or awards in the bookshelf.

4. Kitchen or Dining Room Orange or dark red are some of the colors you can use in the kitchen or dining room walls. Avoid blue studies have shown that blue can decrease ones appetite. Images or prints of flowers or vegetables are great wall decorations. You can also use ceramic plates to hang on the wall. It is important to also try to coordinate colors that would either match or complement the colors used in the rest of the rooms. If you are using wallpaper designs, coordinate the prints with the colors used all over the home. For wall decors, you can hang assorted baskets or cookware to provide a homey touch to the kitchen or dining area.

5. Living and family rooms Any artwork or painting works well in any living room wall. Family photographs and certificates are great wall decoration in the family room. Use proper lighting to highlight objects on the wall. Lighting effects can help you set the tone from cozy, comfortable, to elegant or even romantic. Adding wall shelving or bookshelves for storing books and other collectibles are wonderful space savers.

6. Garage Most of us would simply use the garage to stack boxes of unwanted items or store clothes we no longer use. However, the garage wall can be easily used for hanging tools and other items such as cleaning materials that we use daily. For this project, you can install a pegboard or shelves to store house and automotive tools in the garage.

Fabric and vinyl are unique materials that you can use as wall coverings. Just glue them to the wall using adhesive made especially for fabric or vinyl. Select interesting textures, patterns and colors to enliven a wall that looks plain. Grass beach mats also make interesting wall coverings.

Decorating your walls with beads is another unique way to dress up any wall. Simply take colored beads and glue them onto the wall in any shape or pattern you like. You can create silhoutte of images or create interesting patterns it all depends on your mood and style. Using beads to create borders for your walls is another great idea to embellish your walls.

Let your imagination guide you in this project and soon you will discover that there are many different ways to enhance an existing wall. Your wall can serve as an extension of your personality or accent existing decor in your home.
