subject: Courier Jobs - Do You Need A Sat Nav System [print this page]

Courier drivers jobs and driving work will require you to have a sat nav system - without a reliable one you could miss important contracts and let customers down... So how do you find the best one for your business in amongst all the systems on offer now.

I have listed a few simple and basic tips to help get you started.

Ok we are all trying to save money on anything related to our business and cost will be an important issue for you. But you need to realise that without a good system you will end up with more maps than a shop. As with any business the initial start up costs can always seem a bit "painful" but in the long run will reap the rewards. This applies to having the right navigation tools.. There is nothing worse than driving around, totally lost and wasting fuel at the same time. Courier drivers need to arrive at their destinations on time, not four hours late, otherwise you will not get that customers business again. Also fuel is very expensive and every bit you use reduces your profits and your courier jobs will end up costing you money.

Take a good look at the screen on the sat nav - the bigger the better and even more so if it is fitted with anti-glare feature. This will make your journey so much easier as you will be able to see the maps and menus more clearly. Anything that reduces your stress levels the better!!

You should also try and buy one with extra features such as traffic avoidance (save you time and money), lane assist, and route management. This will mean you are maximising your time and effort.

Not all sat navs with extra features are expensive and if you shop around you should be able to find some great deals. Sat navs are now very popular and most people have one so obviously this has lowered the price from say a few years ago. Have a look around some review sites and see what you can find and take your time - good research initially will save you money and hassle.

I know I have stated this point earlier but I feel very strongly regarding its importance. Your sat nav system is a crucial part of your business, if you were mowing lawns for a living you wouldn't have the cheapest mower on the block otherwise you would be there all day. Well the same goes for your nav system. Spend your money on the best one you can as you know the old saying you can't do the job properly without the right tools.
