The kids today are looking for those old time experience and fun activities particularly the outdoor movies. They see it in old flicks and they immediately search the web for one that they can go to near their home. First, here is a little history of outdoor movie. The first outdoor screening was a success that it led to the trend of drive-in theater. This was mainly because of a person by the name of Richard Hollingshead in the year 1933. In his backyard, he though of hanging a white bed sheet across two trees and directed there his 1928 Kodak projector. He made use of the radio for audio.

1940s was the start of the drive-in movie popularity. 27 states in the US have drive-in movie facilities during this time. However, the peak of the popularity of this phenomenon came about during the 1950s up to the 1960s. This is the time when the baby boomers began dating and driving.

According to the data gathered by the United Drive-in Theater Owners Association, the sheer number of drive-in theaters reached a number of 4,063 in the entire country. This is the largest number of outdoor movie theater ever assembled. Today, however, only 10% of that number is still in existence. In Colorado, they are trying to revive the glory days by building Denver outdoor movies facilities.

After the growth of the outdoor movies came its decline. In the year 1970s until 1980s, drive-in theaters gave way to high-tech movie theaters and he introduction of multiplexes and television. Denver outdoor movies were forgotten, but only temporarily. In the year 1990s, outdoor movies are threatening to have a comeback.

With all the gadgets available today such as DVD players and even 3D movies, there is still that yearning for an outdoor movie experience. In Denver, this experience can once again be relived. The simpler times are here again for kids, teenagers and adults alike with the existence of Denver outdoor movies.
