subject: What Is Seo And How To Do It? [print this page]

So let us look at the 3 major components of search engines;

1- Crawling

Spiders are sent by search engines to websites on the internet to gather new content... but wait a minute! Did you say spiders?

Spiders are software robots that "crawl" Web pages, gathering information for search engine databases. Also known as search engine crawlers.

2- Indexing

Indexing is the process of reading a web page and extracting the content into a database. If a page is not in a search engine's index, it cannot be shown for an organic search query. So if your website is not indexable for any technical reason or what so ever, you will never rank on search engines results page.

3- Ranking

The final and most important component, it is the technology used to determine which page on the web is most relevant to any given search term. Search engines follow a set of rules to rank websites and/or pages.

So the question now is how to get high ranks for your targeted keywords?

This can be done by "Spoon feeding" content to search engine. And by content I mean relative content.

Are search engines so dumb that they need to be Spoon fed like babies?

Because Search Engines aren't sophisticated as you may think, It isn't that they are dumb. But they are like little children who need information to be presented to them in a way they understand.

Take this as an example. Maybe you go write an article about how Egyptians loves soccer, and you can use all the smart metaphors you have in your arsenal. But if you didn't use some of the most relevant and obvious keywords in your article like zamalek, ahly, ismaily, abo treika, barakat search engines may find it hard to rank your article for relevant searches.

This is why you need to use keywords in your articles

As an editor/writer or an Search engine optimization specialist, you must strike a balance between writing engaging content for your audience and spoon feeding search engines your content.

So How to maintain that balance?

To strike that optimal balance you must use the keywords people search for when searching for similar content of yours.
