When disappointment with the product being sold as "mulch" came up, a new business sprouted for a Joliet, IL entrepreneur.
The company is called "815 MULCH IT." Delivering and installing quality-aged hardwood in three different grades is what the business does.
"I was shocked at the red, tan and even green products in the market," owner Shawn Matthews said. "People need to know that many of these products were pallets, 2x4s, and construction debris only days before they were marketed off as mulch.
"Pine products give off a pheromone that attracts ants and nesting bugs, and should not be placed around your home. Only aged hardwoods should be used."
Included in the installation price is a new spade edge around your landscape beds, an application of "Preen" which is a weed-preventative to keep those nasty weeds away, and then installation of the mulch product of your choice using our selections.
"Educating our customers on quality hardwood mulch that lost longer and truly enhances their homes is our goal," Matthews said.
Re-mulching can be done any time of year. Most people think it has to be in the spring, however, holding off until the date of your graduation, anniversary or summer yard party is going to make your yard look great no matter what the date is.

We can get any mulch you desire. However, we stock 5 different types:

This is a 100% recycled product. It is color enhanced using a vegetable based red tinting agent for that bright color to enhance your landscape beds.
How Much Mulch Do I need?
If you are "Re mulching" You measure the beds, multiplying the length X the width of your landscape beds (tip: just round it up to the nearest foot. Don't go by inches.) Add up the totals and divide that number by 120. The number you end up with is the amount of cubic yards you need to order. This should give you a spreading depth of 2 1/2" to 3"
If you are installing mulch on a new landscape bed, you will want to add a bit more as the thickness should increase to 3" to 4"
