subject: How To Conquer Shyness [print this page] If you believe you need others acceptance, stop and ask yourself, is this really true? Take a look around you at people who aren't shy, and ask yourself do they seek acceptance from others? Do they need others to accept them or do they accept themselves?
Do you accept everyone? It is very likely there are people you like and many you don't like. This is natural for you and others.
It is impossible to control how other people view you and very hard work if you try.
It is a great feeling to be accepted and admired by many but it's not essential to your well being. What is essential is that you accept yourself and this is the key.
Once you accept yourself, then you are accepted no matter what. You no longer need to seek acceptance outside yourself as you already have it within, just like the people who are not shy.
How do you accept yourself? Simply stop judging yourself and others, be it good or bad. Just let experiences, feelings, thoughts etc. pass without analysing them.
Stop thinking you should be different to the way you are. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, we are all human.
You tolerate other people's weaknesses, people will tolerate yours. If they don't, it doesn't matter, don't judge yourself about it, but accept you're human, just like them.
Don't worry if things don't change immediately. Keep working at breaking the habit of judging and analysing, slowly moving towards feeling things more instead of over thinking them.
You will soon feel free to take risks, knowing that if people do not accept you it does not matter as you are now the king of your castle, not them!
