subject: Using Flat Irons For Soft Curls [print this page]

Things needed to complete this look are Tail comb, hair clips, hair spray, and a high quality hair straightener.

The tail comb and the hair clips are used while sectioning. The tail-comb gives a voluminous effect to the hair. The hair spray gives shine together with great hold and volume. You can use this according to your hair texture. Always use a medium hold hairspray to keep the curls all day. A thin straightening iron that is about 1 inch helps to get high defined curls.

Step-by-step instructions:

Brush Begin by brushing the hair thoroughly and evenly to ensure it is completely tangle free and smooth

Divide the hair into 3 parts: upper part, middle part and lower part. And clip away.

In the lower part, divide the hair again into three parts; as larger the section is, fewer and looser the curls will be. The size of the section results on the net effect of the curls and its effectiveness. Now slide the iron from the root to end and twist it around them at the same time.

At the middle part, again divide it into four or five parts, so as to get tighter curls. Here too repeat the same procedure with the iron; that is gliding and twisting them at the same time.

At the upper part, tease the crown to give the voluminous effect; as it will give the right volume to the hair. With the tail comb, separate a single strand or possibly the parts one inch wide. Then seize the strand and gently brush it. While doing it, make sure it is at least five inches away from the scalp. Continue the procedure which is known as teasing, to yield the desire volume. Then apply the hair spray to this section and gently settle it down.

At the upper part, take small sections and curl them after teasing.

To soften the curls, brush it downwards from middle with the fingers. Dont use a comb or a brush, as it will cause frizzes and split ends

Lastly, stick the soft romantic curls using the hair spray.
