subject: Screen Protectors For An Led Tv [print this page]

So you've invested in a great LED TV and now the kids want to watch it and you're worried that they'll damage the screen with their sticky fingers, crayons, toys or even throwing their Nintendo Wii controllers at it!

Cracked tv screens are very difficult to repair and in the majority of cases will require replacing completely, which can cost almost as much as the tv itself. Warranties from retailers often don't cover screen damage, leaving the consumer seriously at risk in the event of accidental damage.

The best way to prevent damage to your tv screen is to cover it up with a screen protector, and there's a great range available online.

Screen protectors are used for a wide range of applications and industries, from mounted tv's for small businesses to queuing systems for hospitals and airports, to large scale businesses and even the military.

The protectors tend to be simple and light-weight pieces of high-grade acrylic that sit on top of a tv screen. Most require very little to no preparation and simply attach to the back of the display using straps. Many also include rubber pads to prevent the screen from moving and felt spacers to keep the screen away from the surface of the tv and prevent scratching.

Some protectors also come with advanced features such as non-reflective optical grade acrylic which ensures clear, crisp and vivid images with no glare while viewing. Others feature UV filters, protecting the viewer by blocking almost all the Ultra Violet light in the UVA/UVB spectrum and some in the UVC spectrums.

The protectors tend to pick up less grease and grime than the tv itself so require less cleaning. They're also easier to clean as they can be pressed down and will not be damaged by cleaning fluids.

However, screen protectors are known to reduce the brightness of a tv by up to 5%, but that can easily be remedied with a simple adjustment of the screen brightness through the tv's built in settings.

A range of sizes are available from a number of international retailers, from around 19 inches to 55 inches and beyond. The smaller sizes start from around 40 ($60) and increase to 100 ($160) - a small price compared to the cost of replacing the tv!

Reinforced versions are also available for businesses, including complete screen enclosures up to 65 inches. The enclosures are available in two colours - a silver anodized frame with a frosted acrylic or a black anodized frame with black matte acrylic.

The enclosures also include air vents and guarded dual fans to keep the display cool, high quality sound option upgrades, and tamper proof screws.

As with any purchase, make sure you research your options to ensure your requirements are being met before you buy. Screen protectors should be thought of as an investment for the future - make sure you get a good screen protector that meets your needs and you'll enjoy the benefits for years to come.
