subject: Different Types Of Metal Machine Tools [print this page]

Purchasing new machine tools, fabricating, and sheet metal equipment is a necessary step for many companies. When it comes time, take into consideration what will work best for you and your company.

Three of the major machines that you may be looking into are angle rolls, plate rolls, and mech saws. The two major things to consider before purchasing any of these items are the materials that you most commonly use with them and the various restrictions of the each separate machine.

When you take these two features into consideration you will find metal equipment that will meet your needs and give you a competitive edge within the industry.

Once you purchase your new machines be sure to keep them maintained so that they will have a long life span and be able to fulfill their potential.

The roll bender line, on the machine, consists of manual or electronic driven single pinch models and hydraulic driven double pinch models with two hydraulic bottom rolls. Because of these features the angle roll bending machine is specialized to help you bend tube, pipe, angle iron, solids, squares, and much more.

Plate rolls are a machine that folds or flattens various metals and steels when put through the machine. In a plate roll machine, three roll benders work by pinching, or pushing together the flat work piece between two rolls and bending the material as it comes in contact with a forming roll.

This bends the work piece into a cylindrical form, where it is welded together to produce a cylinder. The upper roll is in a fixed position; the lower roll has adjustable movement to perform the gripping function.

The third roll in the machine, also known as the forming roll, is also adjustable. With a manually opened or hydraulically moved drop hinge, the end of the top shaft is opened to allow removal of the finished work piece, such as a completed tube shape.

A mech saw is also known as a band saw. A band saw is a power saw that is used to cut different materials. Band saws consist essentially of a toothed metal band coupled to and continuously driven around the circumferences of two wheels.

One major thing to keep in mind when purchasing a band saw is that the teeth need to be broken in. If you don't take the time to do this, likely the edges of the material you are trying to cut will be frayed.

When you take the time to take care of your band saw and other metal working equipment they will work better and have a longer life span.

By knowing a little bit more about each of these different machines you will be able to more effectively know what your company needs when it comes to metal machines.
