The new center, which was opened at Buffalo, deals with immigration status verification, especially for the E-Verify Program and the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program. Nearly a hundred and thirty five employees at the Bank of America building in downtown Buffalo will verify the work authorization status for companies that use E-Verify Program. They will also process requests regarding immigration status verification for SAVE programs. A monitoring office will also be set up in the center that will check the proper functioning of these two programs. It also ensures that there are no discriminatory practices and safeguards privacy of applicants. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services make sure that all the processes are done according to the US Immigration laws.
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of applicants for the E-Verify Program and SAVE Program in the last three years. More than 300 agencies, including 175 State agencies, 30 department of motor vehicles , 64 local agencies, and 28 Federal agencies have registered for the SAVE Program. The E-Verify program is being used by nearly 650,000 worksites across the nation with around 170,000 employers, to verify the eligibility status of their employees.
