subject: It Is A Jungle Out There, How Do I Find The Best Lcd Tv? [print this page] Writing a review on TVs and LCD computer monitors can be quite perplexing because they involve a lot of technical aspects. The TVs are more intimidating than a computer monitor because the latter come in smaller sizes and they dont have a lot of features to test. I run a blog for TVs and LCD computer monitors and it is made mainly to guide people with their panel shopping. I get a lot of e-mails from people asking me do I test the products while writing HDTV reviews. I am jotting down a few points which form the crux of my tests.
Design This is the most important part for fashion conscious people. I write about the styling and the looks of the product. The best LCD TV must also have the best looks since it is quite huge and hence easily noticed in the room. This section also covers the stand of the TV. I give extra points to the product if it looks attractive.
Remote The clicker is another important aspect of a TV. I have seen great TVs ruined by some really poor remotes. There also have been some really bad TVs having great remotes. It is really hard for me to recommend a TV if the remote is not good. The clicker must be ergonomic; it should feel good in the hand. The buttons also should be in a good position. For instance, the important buttons should be easily accessible, like some where on the top where as the less important keys can be relegated down at the bottom.
Picture quality This is the most important part in my HDTV reviews. It is impossible to call a panel the best LCD TV if the picture quality is not up to the mark. I play some games and movies on the TV in order to check the performance. For the movies, I play various scenes like night and day and then see the black levels of the panel.
Testing for LCD computer monitors The tests are pretty much similar to what I do in HDTV reviews. I dont mention the remote, of course because there isnt one. But I do play games and movies to check the panel. I also mention about the ergonomic options on the LCD computer monitors.
Other than the LCD computer monitor and HDTV reviews I also get some out of the products in my labs for reviewing. One such example is the Sony Dash. It is like a portable TV which can be kept anywhere in your house. In my Sony Dash review, I said that it was a small seven inch gadget which gives you a buffet of video, news and music from across the Web. However, there is nothing about the device that serves as its primary functions it might be jack of all trades but surely, it is master of none. The sound quality through the built in speakers is quite bad. The touch screen is a bit sluggish and I wish the device could run on batteries. I have mentioned all this in my Sony Dash review. I would still recommend this gadget to tech enthusiasts.
