Material aid. Different professions and occupations are the ground for individuals to have profits after a definite period of time. Employees get means for living by working every day through weeks. Moreover, it gives grounds for stability in life. Professions were invented in order to support people through exchange of their goods or services into money or some precious things. Thus, there is a great value in having lots of professions nowadays.

Scientific and technological progress. The variety of professions is the background to talk about driving science and technologies. Indeed, different professions and occupations should be valued as the result of scientific and technological progress. Before it came out to be, there were not so many different professions. Thus, the charm of such a versatility of professions is that they are supposed with technological breakthroughs.

Cons

Getting confused about a definite specialist. It happens that in the variety of professions people cannot find out the expert to solve their problem. In fact, it is somewhat like if one has a problem with doing something proficiently, but he/she does not have an idea of who can do that, particularly.

Lack of chances for young specialists. Due to the diversity of professions young specialists cannot find out a job by profession, as the niche is fulfilled by other (usually senseless) professions. In turn it provokes a wave of jobless claims.
