In the first five months of 2010, Rolls-Royce has seen a 146% increase in sales compared to same period last year. The British managed to sell 678 cars.

First five months of the year brought unexpected sales for luxury manufacturer Rolls Royce, while the car market has not completely recovered after the 2009 crisis. According to an official communique issued by the British, by the end of May, Rolls-Royce showrooms have managed to sell a total of 678 units, which means an increase of 146 percent compared to same period last year.

The positive results are influenced decisively by launching the new Ghost, last December. The difference between the prices of the youngest and the top Phantom is about 120,000 euros.

Torsten Muller-Otvos, President of Rolls-Royce said he expects to double the number of units sold this year, compared with last year, when the British company decreased by 17% and only 1,000 units delivered.

According to Muller-Otvos, the largest market share for Rolls-Royce will be China, where the luxury manufacturer already has seven branches. Judging by developments in the first five months, the Chinese market will overtake the English market this year, and it can be considered a premier in luxury brand history. However, first the top sales position is still occupied by the United States.

British manufacturer of luxury Rolls-Royce models could develop a 100% electric version of Phantom, which will present after one year.

This model could be presented this year and will have a chassis and electric drive 100%. Rolls Royce engineers have chosen this model after one study made on Phantom owners assessed the way they use the car.

It seems that Rolls-Royce Phantom owners have always used a driver for their car on short and medium distances. That is why his performances are not essential in electric power Phantom version, and the model should not necessarily have a very great autonomy. Rolls Royce Phantom EV batteries mass and size will not affect passenger comfort, and higher price of such a model will not be a problem for Rolls-Royce customers.

BMW Group brand, owners of Rolls Royce Phantom will provide the first set of EV leasing, and production will be limited to a small number of copies. The advantage of production of Phantom versions with zero emissions will decrease the average of exhaust to the wide range of the Rolls-Royce, which is essential for the next years.
