Frequently when I watch decorating shows in which they design a living or family rooms, I think, Where the heck is the TV? Its almost as though these the featured families dont ever watch TV, but I suspect that that cant really be the case. I thought it would be fun to see some creative ways to work a TV into your current decor by either embracing its design or concealing it when not in use. Here are some of the solutions I found:
1. Cover it with something artistic and personal. Who said that you need to stare at the blank TV screen when its not in use? If you live in a smaller home where your living room is also your family room, then the TV isnt always the main attraction. Hiding it behind a decorative screen is a great way to add personality to your room, and it can do double duty as a decorative accent.
2. Make it the center of attention. Hiding your TV is just one way that you can make the television a part of your decor. Dont be ashamed that you like to watch the tube, flaunt it! With the invention of thinner, more attractive television screens, were able to mount them directly on the wall. So, why not hang your TV the same way youd hang a photograph or painting? Center it with style between two windows and above a console, bookshelf or even the mantle.
3. Install a mirror TV. These days, technology knows no bounds, which is clear with the advent of the mirror television. Mirror companies like Seura and Creative Mirror are getting into the high-tech entertainment business, customizing mirrors to conceal LCD screens in just about any place you can imagine even bathrooms!
4. Buy a custom TV. Even custom televisions and accessories are being created to help you disguise your TV. These big monstrous units went out of style there for a few years, but theyre back and better than ever! They dont need to be 40-feet deep anymore since TVs are so slim these days. Plus, where else are you gonna put all your CDs, DVDs, kids toys, magazines, books, knick-knacks, remote controls and extra blankets?
