BMW has shown its commitment to safety and designing cars around what customers want. Thats been duly noted as BMW was recognized last month at the 10th annual international Telematics Update Conference in Detroit.

The German automaker was recognized with three awards including the Global Car Manufacturer Award for its BMW ConnectedDrive. Its Enhanced Automatic Collision Notification system received the Best Embedded Telematics Service Award and ConnectedDrive Services Manager for BMW of North America Francis Dance was given the Telematics Leadership Award.

Boston 2010 BMW customers will be impressed with BMWs new technological features on its new models. BMW ConnectedDrive is a bundle of electronic systems which provide connectivity and safety for the driver and passengers in BMW vehicles around the world. This bundle of technologies is comprised of three main components, Safety, Convenience and Infotainment. And I can think of very little these systems dont do that I might need or want while driving. Maybe serve up some snacks.

The Safety suite includes BMW Assist, the companys award-winner Enhanced Automatic Collision Notification, Blind Spot Detection, Head-up Display, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and BWM Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection. Providence BMW 3 Series buyers will appreciate how these features offer extra security for the family.

In the Convenience suite, customers will discover BMW Navigation with Real-time Traffic information; BMW TeleService; Rearview Camera with TopView; BWM Search and MyInfo.; drivers profile transferred by USB; BMWs new Parking Assistant parallel parking feature (now on 2011 5 Series Sedans); and Sideview cameras.

The Infotainment suite features Bluetooth hands-free calling; Sirius XM and HD Radio; iPod integration and storage for hard-drive music; text-to-speech news and weather forecasts. The text-to-speech feature will expand later this year to encompass texts and e-mails. No more hands-free worries. The car will just talk to us. What more could we ask?

These awards come as no surprise to Boston 2010 BMW dealers, as BMW has been a leading innovator in telematics, being the first to develop in-car telemetry which was first used in the Brabham BMW FT-52, which won a World Championship.

Although telematics in extremely complex, all customers need to know is that it allows all the necessary and desired systems to work together and provide information to the driver safely and securely. The expansion in the number of systems is amazing and this advanced technology allows BMW to add technologies their customers request and expect in the areas of safety and control.

So for customers searching for the perfect BWM model for their lifestyle, whether shopping a Providence BWM 3 Series dealer, for the new 5 Series Sedan or anything in between, the telematics systems will make you feel a bit like youre in an episode of Star Trek, yet youll feel right at home.
