subject: Self Defense Products-stun Guns Exposed [print this page]

Stun guns are the second most popular self defense product in the world second only to pepper sprays. They have been used by law enforcement agencies worldwide for decades as part of their "continuum of force." They are very effective for self defense especially self defense for women.

They are small, powerful devices that are hand held. They have two prongs on one end that conduct an electrical charge. When that charge is applied to an assailant for as little as three to five seconds the charge causes the body to overwork-similar to running a marathon. This rapid action depletes the body of lactic acid needed for energy. The assailant can't do anything more to pursue you. Bummer.

Despite the popularity of stun guns they are shrouded in mystery. So here is info about stun devices you may not know-stun guns exposed.

1. Legality-they are illegal in some states so check with local law enforcement or the internet to see if they are legal in your state.

2. Application-they must be physically applied to an assailant unlike a pepper spray or taser.

3. Nerve centers-6 areas in all-the upper hip, below the rib cage or the upper shoulders on the right an left sides for best results.

4. Power-the more voltage the better the results. Stun devices range from 80,000 to 4.5 million volts.

5. No lasting damage-to the assailant.

6. Incapacitation-for stun devices five to ten minutes-certainly long enough for you to get away from a dangerous situation.

7. Voltage blowback-the electrical charge does not pass thru to you.

When it comes to best self defense products the stun gun stands out. When are you getting one?

I always advise that if you feel threatened to hold up your stun gun and warn "back off." Sometimes the sounds and flying sparks of a charging stun gun are enough to scare the bad guys away.

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!

Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of home security device.
