One of the easiest ways you can do this is by not over doing it. Most people try to get out and run hard on the first day or two. These are the most difficult days because you are the most out of shape. You should just use these beginning few days to gradually run. You are just getting the 'rust off' for your first few workouts. After a few days of casually running, you will start to feel like you are making progress. Now is not the time to ramp up your efforts and push yourself to the limit. Again, you are trying to make running more fun. If you start to gradually increase your mileage you will more than likely be able to develop a more regular running routine. This is because you won't be going from zero to sixty right off the bat. Your body will still be fresh, and most importantly, this will help to keep your mind fresh. Keeping your mind fresh will help keep you motivated.

Once you start to get in shape and you see your efforts starting to pay off, you will want to increase your efforts again. You still want to maintain some level of comfort while still pushing your boundaries. This will enable you to build on your efforts from the previous day and will help you to still progress.

Another way to make running fun is by adding a portable music player to your workout routine. A portable music player is an easy way for you to enjoy your favorite tunes while you are running. It will help you to get in a zone and just keep on moving forward. Sometimes you will not even realize that you are running because you will be zoned out. A portable music player is an easy way for you to make running more enjoyable.

If you can keep these tips in mind, you will begin to see progress in your mental attitude towards running. You will enjoy the process a little more and be able to develop a more regular workout routine. A consistent level of effort is the key to long term success.
