subject: What Are Private Rehabilitation Clinics [print this page] Private Rehabilitation Clinics are treatment centres for addicts or alcoholics who are able to self-fund and seek treatment for their addictions. Most clinics offer a detox programme which addicts and alcoholics usually need for the first part of the treatment. Most private rehabilitation clinics have medically trained staffed and qualified counsellors in order to help the addict get the most out of their stay with the best possible support for recovery.
Private rehabilitation clinics offer different lengths of stay. They usually range for 28 days to 3 months, some offering secondary after-care for another 3 months. The first 7 to 14 days are spent treating a client on a detox programme as it can be very dangerous for a drug addict or alcoholic to give up their substance of choice on their own without medical help. The rest of the stay at the treatment centre is based around educating clients in a different way of life and teaching them new life tools in order to recover and stay recovered. There will be lots of sessions with trained counsellors, most of whom have had personal experience of one form of addiction or another. They will be encouraged to speak about their personal circumstances and will learn how to let go of things or situations from their past.
Most addicts use drugs or alcohol as a form of escapism. They may have had a sequence of events throughout their life, possibly from an early age, that they are ashamed of. They have low self-esteem and have built up many resentments against family, loved ones, society etc. They will be encouraged to learn how to deal with these emotions and how to deal with life obstacles that may come up in the future.
Private rehabilitation clinics vary in price and style. Most offer the same or very similar treatment but can range from a few hundred pounds a week up to anything like twenty thousand pounds for a stay. One must not be fooled into thinking that the more expensive the private rehabilitation clinic, the better. In some cases, many of the cheaper clinics have just as good if not higher success rates than the expensive ones out there.
Some treatment centres are in house and everything is down under one roof. Others have a treatment centre for counselling sessions etc but the living quarters are based off site but very local to the centre. Some have houses where the client will share with 2 or 3 other addicts or alcoholics. The most experienced client will usually be team leader and will help new clients settle into their new surroundings as easy as possible. Everyone is there to help each other. Other clinics have private apartments where you will not share your living quarters with anyone else. It all depends on how much you are willing to pay and what type of private rehabilitation clinic you would prefer.
All clinics have one goal to help and treat clients fighting alcohol, drug addiction or any other form of addiction, gambling, sex etc. Some patients are referred to clinics by the court system, where they will have to undergo certain conditions. Some choose to go into treatment as a way of escaping a jail sentence. But no matter what class of addict you are, everyone is fighting your corner. You have to do this for yourself and once you make the decision to enter rehab, you are on the first step to recovery.
