Milla Jovovich is accustomed to traveling the world for her assignments. The star of the science-fiction films "The Fifth Element" and "Resident Evil" (far left), she is still a supermodel and has done advertising campaigns for Christian Dior and Versace. But for "Wooded Bliss" (Page 162), Jovovich (with her daughter, Ever Gabo, near left) teamed up with the photographer (and Jimmy Choo Kenzie Metallic Leather Sandal collaborator) Jean-Baptiste Mondino to model this season's pastoral offerings in the backyard of her Los Angeles home. "It's a beautiful little spot," she says. Aside from a great location to show off some peasanty frocks, her garden also serves as a nice antidote to the klieg lights of Hollywood. "It keeps me close to the earth." With the closing of her fashion label, Jovovich-Hawk (center), last summer, Jovovich has stayed busy acting. (She has several films in the pipeline, and "A Perfect Getaway" and "The 4th Kind" open this year.) But don't think she has rid herself of the Jimmy choo lance mirrored black sandals bug just yet. "I have a few things I'm mulling over, but I'm not in a rush."
To make sense of the softer, more playful take on bondage that popped up on the runways this spring, the photographer Chad Pitman mined "the darker side" of "Alice in Wonderland" for "Belle de Nuit" on Page 180. Pitman's work (center) appears regularly in style bibles like W, Another Magazine and i-D Magazine, and he's currently working on a project of large-scale canvases related to his Jimmy choo lance mirrored sandals photography. Pitman recently moved from England to New York, where he has had no problem hitting his stride.
