subject: How Could You Maintain Your Sony Laptop Battery? [print this page]

As we all know, Sony is well-known in manufacturing high quality laptops. Both Sony laptops and Sony laptop batteries are seldom defective, but even the quality is good, the charge cycles of a laptop battery is limited. Since a Sony laptop battery approximately has 500-600 charge cycles, what we have to do to use our battery for Sony laptops is to extend the battery life.

Nowadays Li-Ion battery is the mainstream of laptop batteries since it does not have memory effect issue. However, heat always shortens the using time of Li-Ion batteries. If you would like to extend your Sony laptop battery, the following tips can help make it.

Always have a hard surface: To sit with the laptop in bed or in your lap is not a good idea. Always try to put it on a surface that is suitable to dissipate heat. A standard pillow is thus completely worthless. There are several pillows designed for this. IKEA has one which is actually quite okay. I use it myself.

Charge your laptop battery when your laptop is not in use: As we mentioned, the battery life of Li-Ion batteries would be shorted by heat. When your laptop is in use, the temperature gets high, and when your laptop battery, the temperature gets high, too. If you do the two things together, It will be too hot to keep your laptop battery in a good condition.

The fans of your laptop need to be noted: When your laptop is working, you have to check your fans to see if they are working and if there is room for air exchanging. The fans need to get air into your laptop and breathe out the hot air to keep your laptop at an acceptable temperature. There is also why your laptop needs to work on a hard surface since a soft surface may clog the fan holes and make your laptop over-heated.

Take your laptop out of the stopped car in summer: Because the laptop is so portable, you might you have it with you on the road for travel. However, remember that you should not leave it in the car in the summer. You know yourself how hot it can be if you parked his car in the sun.
