Arabian Mocha-Java
Arabian Mocha-Java goes down as the world's most famous coffee blend of all time. It is rich and full-bodied with chocolate overtones that enhance the Mocha-Java's delicious flavor. Someone came up with this ingenuous flavor combination long before coffee was grown everywhere around the world. Back then, these two flavors were very different from those which the countries of Indonesia and Yemen produce today.
As with any blend, everything depends on the quality of the coffee beans used. In this case the result is a delicious full-bodied coffee with a hint of bittersweet chocolate along with rich, wonderful flavors.
French Roast
This darkest roast is intense, bold coffee with pronounced smoky flavor. They combine only high quality, hard-bean coffees that are intense enough to stand up to this flavor combination. French Roast is not a coffee for the weaker taste pallets. The dark, deep, shimmering beans create a strong cup of coffee with a delicious and subtle, smoky flavor.
In the United States, the name "French Roast" usually implies a very dark roast. Pete's French Roast is right in line with that implication. With the use of high-grown, top-quality coffee beans, the result is a sophisticated and impressive cup of java, which is also available in decaf.
House Blend
If you like French Roast you might enjoy Pete's new House Blend is a true favorite of Pete's coffee enthusiasts. House Blend is a combination of the exciting, well-balanced flavors of Latin American coffees with a medium body, appealing and satisfying flavor. House Blend is a perfect introduction to Pete's much loved coffee flavors and is also available in decaffeinated.
Major Dickson's Blend
This is Pete's most famous and sought after variety. This coffee has an intricate, full-bodied, rich and smooth flavor; and is a favorite of many. This is a coffee whose complex blend was the combined effort of Alfred Pete, the founder of Pete's Coffee, and Key Dickson, who is a retired army officer and regular at the original store in Berkeley. Together they tried different combinations of coffee beans until they arrived at what is now one of the most popular blends and is appropriately name after Major Dickson.
Sumatra
Just the name implies a full body, concentrated flavor. Sweet, slightly refined, an herbal hint with a strong and powerful richness. This flavor has been a favorite of Pete's customers for years. It is also available in a decaf blend.
Sumatra is another authentic Indonesian Coffee, but with a completely opposite flavor than Java. Java's coffees are grown on estates and prepared using the Washed Method. Sumatra's Coffees are grown by small landholder with few trees on the land, and are readied using the Dry Method. The ripe coffee cherries are pulped by hand and spread in the sun to dry, rather than being rinsed in water overnight. "The net result of dry-processed coffee is very heavy body and very full flavor". In the case of Sumatra, the flavors are satisfying and somewhat uncomplicated with a prominent herbal overtone.
