The risk that you have joined a dud. For these reasons many people wait a couple of years to see if an Multi-Level Marketing opportunity can or will succeed and then join as it is less of a gamble. Also the company will have established a track record of how it treats its business partners and how reliable it is.
Multi-Level Marketing gives you the advantage of earning income many levels down, but each level doesn't have to double for it to work. In fact you might have someone high in the organization who only introduce one person, but a few levels down you might have a real go getter, hard worker, or marketing genius who introduces hundreds. Thus MLM unlike pyramid marketing can follow a very different structure, with some parts of the network being large and others not so large. This tends to represent a fairer outcome which is more likely to reflect individual efforts.
However a Multi-Level Marketing opportunity, particularly which goes several levels down can maximize your ability to grow quickly. This is because as soon as you introduce one person you effectively double your efforts (unless the just want to use the product or service).
It also encourages those higher in the organization who have been successful to share their knowledge with those below them as it will mean greater profits for them if they help those new to the organization.
