Bike through the Country and Check out Muiderslot Castle

Just 15 kilometers off Amsterdam, in the town of Muiden, the Muiderslot Castle (named so because Muiden means rivermouth, affirming the castles location) is set to explore its 132nd anniversary as a museum this coming 2010. Medieval arms, armories and paintings show their history as a residence of famous figures and as an ammunitions depot during the medieval period. The local government of Muiden had to save this once-decaying castle as it was set for demolition by the Netherland National government before it was declared as an important historical site in correlation to Amsterdam and the town, now reaping its share of tourists everyday. Now, all of its rooms, kitchens and surrounding areas is as it was when the original owner, Count Floris V built it. For those interested, the castle is just a short drive from Amsterdam or one can take a bus going to Muiden Proper and walk a few minutes going to the castle itself.

What you can discover in Amsterdams Centrum

Centrum encapsulates everything Amsterdam has to offer. For example, one of the four palaces which Queen Beatrix of Neverlands uses alternately is the Royal Palace of Amsterdam found at its Centrum. The palace is again open to visitors since early last year, so one can visit the central hall where loyalty constantly walks. Theres also Bloemenmarky, the worlds only floating market which sells mostly flowers. Souvenirs are also sold in the same market for those who want something unique to take home at affordable deals. Next, check out the Van Gogh Museum where this Dutch Painters largest collection of works is found. Aside from the main museum, Centrum also has many museums hidden in its canals, small museums which are kept by private residences and other small organizations also worth the visit. Theres also Anne Franks House in Prisengracht 263 where she lived in the hidden room until their family was found and led to concentration camps. Centrum has so many shops and restaurants to stop by in along the way, so be sure to bring lots of pocket money and a ravenous stomach along the way.

Sandy Escapades on the Beaches of Amsterdam

Whether its for a lively party scene or a serene day with the family, the beaches of Amsterdam provide a refreshing escape from the city. The beaches down their North Coast are a convenient escape to the busy city center and can even be accessed using mere public transportation or a short drive with friends. In the North, there are great resorts such as Bloemendaal and Zandvoort which give off a great ambiance for a lively nightlife affair or lounging around in their pavilions. There are also bars and restaurants found in their 40 or so pavilions. Bloemendaal is by far the most popular among partygoers with live music, DJs and a Bohemian lifestyle. On the other hand, there are other beaches in Amsterdam which are less crowded and great for overall relaxation such as Egmond aan Zee, Castricum and Schoorl. The first is the nearest beach from the village and is also quite close the shopping district of Amsterdam. Check out Amsterdams online website for a complete set of their beach choices.
