Discovering the Romantic Side in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the places so far off from the concept of romance, that is so closely related to places like Venice and France, but one might be surprised at the romantic ambiance Amsterdam can offer. When given the chance, it is this unexpectedness that will spark the romance in a relationship when you visit Amsterdam. Amsterdam, similar to that of Venice, is a floating city and it is in these waterscapes, during quiet night walks with the canal as background, that many couples feel a sense of tranquility with each other. There are also many cafes where couples can hang out in just having endless conversations in the afternoons or they can also stroll through the different mazelike areas of Spanjer en van Twist. Aside from these, there are parks which are great hangout places such as Flevopark, Sarphatipark, Vondelpark, Westerpark and Snippendaal Garden. After everything, laze the remaining day away in one of Amsterdams minimalist hotels and watch the sunset together on a city thats bright with new perspective.

Beautiful Restaurants and Cozy Cafes in Amsterdam

Amsterdams idea of ideal dining does not only involve a great hit on the palate but on visual pleasure as well. Most of the eating areas in Amsterdam are meant more to be great hangout places rather than just places to dine in, where one is allowed to just pine the day away with family or friends. For those who like big portions for their meals, theres the Bistro Sante at Regio. Another nice choice is Caf aad de Wolf which is restaurant by day and bar at night, meant for quiet conversations and a much older crowd. At the historic Zaanse Schans, theres the Restaurant de Hoop op d Swarte Walvis, a historic area which serves great food and great conversations with the staff as well. And for those who like to combine Asian cuisine and seafood flavor, theres the Thai restaurant t Waepen van Naang-Nuan which specializes in fresh fish and sumptuous dessert. On top of these restaurants, there are still so many choices all over Amsterdam, so experiment!

Take a day drive through Muiden and spend a day at Muiderslot Castle

Just 15 kilometers off Amsterdam, in the town of Muiden, the Muiderslot Castle (named so because Muiden means rivermouth, affirming the castles location) is set to explore its 132nd anniversary as a museum this coming 2010. The castle houses many ancient arms, armories and paintings back from its original state as a residence and ammunition depot. The Muiderslot castle was restored back to its original beauty back in 1954 after having been threatened of demolition on several occasions prior before the government and the local town unit stepped in to officially name it as an important historical monument in Amsterdam, and the town of Muiden itself. Now, all of its rooms, kitchens and surrounding areas is as it was when the original owner, Count Floris V built it. Tourists wanting to visit the town can either drive going to the castle or take a bus at Amstel Station which can take one to Muidens town center every 15 minutes.
