Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province is situated in the center of the mainland China with famous Yellow River passing through it. As the capital city, Lanzhou plays an important role in the economy, politics and transportation of the Gansu province.

It is the city that acts as a starting point to many visitors who visit other sites in its vicinity such as Labrang Monastery and Sangke Prairie. Lanzhou also has its own attractions for the travelers such as Water Wheel Park, the White Pagoda Hill Park, the Bingling or Thousand Buddha Caves and Five Springs Mountain Park.

In addition, the city is dotted with museums that display a wealth of artifacts such as Gansu Provincial Museum, Gansu Museum of Geology, and Lanzhou Earthquake Museum.

The following are two scenic spots in Lanzhou.

White Pagoda Hill Park

The park is located on the White Pagoda Hill, north bank of the Yellow River. It was named after the white pagoda of Yuan dynasty.

The White Pagoda Hill is towering and with waives, with an area of more than 8,000 square meters. After many years of greening, at present, White Pagoda is covered with dense forests.

Xinglong Hill Park

The park is located in 5 kilometers southwest of Yuzhong county, Lanzhou city. In 1950s, the number of pavilions and temples on the mountain is up to 70, spots of 24, to be a hot Buddhism and Taoism resort.

Xinglong Hill Park is the nearest National Forest Park from Lanzhou city. The main peak is composed of two peaks, east and west. The east peak Xinglong is 2,400 meters above the sea level, and the west peak Qiyun is 2,500 meters above the sea level.
