subject: Several Tips On Choosing The Right Types Of Serving Platters [print this page]

Serving platters are a nice way to let guests help themselves to the food prepared for the party, or get together. Being informed about the different types of platters, and what ones work better for the occasion, is an informed hosts duty. It will make everyone impressed, and happy to attend future parties.

Platters are useful for large eating occasions whether for a supper, or snacks like hors d'oeuvres. The platters are constructed of different types of materials. Some are circles or oblong, and can be glass or plastic, the choices are varied as the shape of them.

Choosing the right type of platter is important too. An informal outside gathering for lunch or snacks should include platters that are made of plastic because someone could be injured from glass shards, or metal bending. An inside nighttime formal meal can be the heavier larger type of platter because usually meats and more glass ware are used, so more space is needed, and handles make it stable for movement.

Using the correct platters is an issue of good manners too because it makes the food not so appetizing. Never put the wrong types of food on a tray that is not designed for them. It does not look not very professional at all. For example, bread trays have a small lip around the edges, so it is easy to cut and serve for the guest, or the host. Chip and dip trays of platters have divided areas, so the food does not mix, and ruin the taste of the other foods.

Buffets are perfect for platters of all types to be used, as well as a serving tray. The different sizes of them look appealing to the eye. At certain celebratory times of the year themed and perfectly colored patterns are beautiful to behold. It helps the foods appearance too because it is contrasting but themed.

Platters make presenting and serving a meal a happy event for all. Practical and stylish is the way to host any celebration or meeting, whether formal, or not so much. Anyone in a positive atmosphere with delicious foods, and served safely, will knock on the door the next time an invitation is extended.
