subject: Follow The Tintin Trail And Visit Jordan And The Rose City [print this page]

There are many different types of tours you could go on, to many different places around the world. One very fun way of doing though is to follow in the footsteps of one of the worlds most famous explorers. Thats right I am of course talking about Tintin! In this article I shall be talking you through a great way of experiencing the wonderful country of Jordan in Tintins footsteps.

You can witness Hergs fictional creations magically spring to life on an incredible Jordan tour. Follow in the footsteps of Tintin on an exciting 8-day tour of Jordan.

Whilst on your Jordan tour you will need to avoid mischievous Abdullah and his famously exploding cigars, youll catch sight of real Sheikhs, trek through pastel-coloured stretches of sandy desert on one-humped camels, don traditional Arabian dress, canter through secret roads on horseback, have your own tea ceremony in Bedouin tents and if youre lucky - see a mirage or two.

Starting and finishing in Amman your first stop is at the shores of the Dead Sea where your day is free to relax and ease yourselves into the adventure ahead! Perhaps read your favourite Tintin album afloat the Dead Sea. Next its Little Petra, and echoing the spirit of Tintin, youll unwittingly enact his escape orchestrated by the loquacious Oliveira da Figueira, as you don Arabian keffiyehs and proceed by horseback to your hotel, a renovated authentic 17th century village set in the mountains near Petra.

This Jordan tour allows plenty of time to enjoy a fascinating full exploration of Petra! Accessed by foot through a narrow, deep and winding cleft, you will get your first glimpse of the spell-binding Rose City! Full of ancient tombs, temples and ruins Petra is a real archaeological treat.

In true Tintin style, you can then escape through Petras back door, and travel by jeep to a remote campsite in the heart of the Arabian Desert. Settle into your tent and then pull back the canvas on an Arabian night of Bedouin music, entertainment and dinner, under the desert stars.

Spend the next two days on your Jordan tour relaxing in Aqaba, set sail for Pharaon Island in the Red Sea, and explore the islands Byzantine fortress and snorkel around colourful coral reefs in its crystal waters without an encounter with the Red Sea sharks of course!

After two relaxing days its time to bid farewell and return to Amman where your Jordan tour concludes.
