subject: The Most Humorous Films Of The Past Decade [print this page]

Over the past few years there have been some brilliant comedies. Funny movies are tough to predict at the box office, because so much of it depends on word of mouth and star power does not always equal a hit. It has to be the right combination of script writing, directing, casting and positive buzz.

Over the past 10 years, there have been some hilarious films. Here is the best of the best.

If you have not seen The Hangover, then you are missing out. The script is nothing new (think Dude, Where's My Car?), however the execution is brilliant. This movie served as breakout roles for both Bradley Cooper and Zach Galafinakis. The sequel is supposed to hit theatres in 2011.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was an incredibly funny film. Jason Segal's first lead role ended up paying off for him. The subject matter is something that anyone who has ever had a rough breakup can relate to, however it is done in such a funny way. Russell Brand is also hysterical in this movie.

Another incredibly funny movie that has no doubt achieved cult classic status is Anchorman. Will Ferrell was incredible in this film, and this movie probably has more memorable lines than any comedy in recent memory. People just love to quote Ron Burgundy.

I Love You, Man was another film that I found very funny. I've always been a fan of Paul Rudd as well as Jason Segal, and putting them together in this movie made too much sense. This movie is filled with consistent laughs without being too over the top.

One other film that I have to mention is Wedding Crashers. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson make one of the best comedic duos we have seen in a long time with this film and their back and forth banter is nothing short of hilarious.

So this is the list for now. I will have to reevaluate after the summer season is over, although Funny People definitely did not make the cut.
