subject: Buying A Brand New 10 Plate [print this page]

The release of the brand new 10 plate on the 1st March has sent many drivers searching to buy a new car. Driving a brand new car will give anyone an immense feeling of satisfaction and there are many reasons to get one. An important thing to bear in mind is that you are unlikely to be able to negotiate the price as much as you would with an older car.

As with buying any car you need to do your research on the various prices available before stepping foot on to the forecourt. Keep a target price in your mind and work towards it, start off by offering below the target price and then judge the reaction to see how you are likely to get to it. As mentioned, 10 plate cars are very new and the chances to negotiate are going to be less so do not be too pushy as the salesmen is unlikely to go too below the recommended retail price.

Some people may buy a 10 plate car because of the status symbol it carries and why not? A 59 plate may only be a couple of weeks older but to have a brand new car is something that every driver wants. You also know that there will not be a newer car for at least 6 months.

Despite your negotiating powers not being as strong, you can choose a car that will not lose its value as much good examples of cars that hold their value are the BMW mini and the Fiat 500. Choosing a car that doesnt lose its value as quickly will mean you will save some money when you come to sell it on.

Safety is also an important part of any car buying decision you make and the great thing about buying a 10 plate car is that a five-star Euro NCAP is common. With safety tests getting tighter each year you can rest assured that your car will be safe to drive. Try and do your bit for the environment to by searching for environmentally friendly cars that are widely available on the market, you can do your bit for the earth!
