House Painting is one of those recurring projects every couple of years. Painting a house can be real easy or real difficult depending on motivation and know how. If you notice paint beginning to fade or peel, its a good time to start thinking about painting your house or hiring a painting contractor to paint for you. First thing that has to happen before you begin to paint is to make sure all paint peels and dirt is removed. This can be done by scrapping, but pressure washing seems to be faster and easier. If you choose to pressure wash, be sure to wait about 24 hours before applying primer. Primer is vital to making sure the paint will cover and adhere completely. Long story short, primer will provide a base coat. If you have different color trim, you should go around and paint the trim first. After the trim is painted, it is now time to apply the primary color. First go around and cut-in. Cutting in is done with a brush and is necessary in order to paint where a paint roller wont fit. If you feel uncomfortable with your painting skills, you may want to tape around the areas you dont want to paint with a roll of painters tape. This will also prevent accidentally smudging the trim. Now it is safe to roll out the primary color. Make sure you dont let the roller get dried up because this will make it difficult to apply an even coat as the material on the roller begins to break down. If you are not painter savvy, it would be best to look into hiring a painting contractor.
Interior Painting can be extremely tedious. Just in one room there may be several different colors. First thing you have to do is move the furniture far enough from the walls so that you can apply paint without any obstructions. You may want to cover furniture with an old sheet so that paint does not splatter al over the furniture. It is a good idea to also cover the carpet or floor. Make sure the surface is clean and any holes in the drywall are patched up. Now its time to apply primer. This will give a nice clean base coat to paint over as well as cover stains. After applying primer, cut-in around areas you do not wish to paint or the safest way is to tape it off with painters tape. You are now ready for the primary color. Paint at a steady speed with even strokes. Make sure the roller is always saturated. Make sure the entire surface is covered. After the paint dries, gently remove tape and put back furniture. For the best results, contact a painting contractor to assist you with your project.
