Shopping Malls in Aruba
Shopping Malls in Aruba

Shopping in Aruba is so unlike the frazzled task one usually associates with shopping at home. For one, Aruba has no formal mall, at least not in the sense that it has endless boutiques to get lost in or a generic building to hold the shops. The closest thing to a mall is the Paseo Herencia Shopping and Entertaining Center, a beautiful old-style plaza which shows off the Spanish heritage of Aruba. The shop has many modern amenities like musical entertainment, a liquid fireworks display at night and a cinema aside from the different restaurants and shops around the area. Another shopping destination is the Village which is a nicely-restored structure found in the hotel strip of Aruba quite similar to that of SoHo or Vegas. The Village has a courtyard thats full of eye candy such as street performances, charming shops and small kiosks which show a different flavor of Aruban influences. These two are great go-to places, even when you dont plan of shopping that much, if only to people watch and take in the lively scene during your Aruban vacation.

Arubas Famous Gold Mills

Tracing its origin as a gold town, many adventurers and settlers in the 1500s, dubbed Aruba as a rich land full of Oro Ruba or red gold. Many nations tried to conquer this island just for the purpose. Now called Aruba, the islands origins can still be seen through the gold mill ruins that still make money by being a popular destination for tourists and adventurers. The first gold mill is the Bushiribana Gold Mill which is found at the Northern part of Aruba where once, 3 million pounds of gold was churned out from 1824 until the supply depleted but still as is, Bushiribana is a great place to be in especially since its found beside the Aruban beachfront. Theres also the Balashi Gold Mill which is found on the islands Spanish Lagoon. There are still some remaining gold smelters in the ruins and is an interesting attraction for tourists and locals alike because of its functional and aesthetically pleasing faade.
