subject: Amplify That Feel-good Factor And Pump Up The Jam [print this page] I am not what you would call a grease monkey although I aspire to be, so the movie, The Fast and the Furious, blew me away. However, music is defiantly my thing and I got a real kick out of one of the best film soundtracks I had listened to in a long time.
The cars were definitely impressive. The sound systems and amplifiers made me wish I was rich enough to rush out and buy-one! Great subliminal advertising eh! That particular film was released in 2001 and here in 2010 we are almost ten years into the future. I am sure there is a rule about the price of technology halving and the processing power doubling every ten years or so.
Maybe I could finally realise my dream with some go-faster stripes and a new hi-fi. I do not doubt that the amps and stereos are much more affordable. However, I also suspect the sound systems in those cars would be regarded as antique now and perhaps very much out of date.
The subliminal marketing is still having an effect I still fantasise about having fire strips down the side of my car and a sound system to die-for.
Unfortunately every time I turn on my stereo reality comes crashing in. That horrible tinny screeching sound from my speakers just blows away my fantasy. It does not do the music any justice either, and it hardly creates that deep pulsing sensation you get with a great base.
So enough day-dreaming I need to get back to work and back to reality. I need to earn some sheckles to buy a decent hi-fi and do that music justice. Sound quality is critical to me. I want it loud and without any distortion. I need to feel that base. I want my car to vibrate in time to the music I as drive down the street. I need to invest in a rust kit first otherwise I will leave red car dandruff on the folks drive.
With great power comes great responsibility! So I have got to consider the neighbours but out on the open road or on the motorway who cares! My car is not that fast. It cannot travel at the speed of sound, so I reckon people will hear me coming long before they see me, applauding my taste in music. No boy-band or girl-band in sight just great tunes and a great vibe, real music for real music appreciators.
Just need to remember to turn down the volume when I get a phone call, there is only so much you can share!
