subject: Methods Of Free Website Promotion [print this page]

Some beginners feel that creating a website is hard work, but they soon learn that website promotion is also hard work. You can pay for advertising or you can outsource the work, but both can be very costly. There are easier ways, however, that are completely free of cost.

Search engine optimization, better known as SEO, is the use of keywords to boost the rank of a website in search engine results. You can easily ruin what could be a good thing with SEO if you overuse your keywords, so it is best to do some research on how to do it correctly. The ideal outcome is for your site to be on the first page of results for a search for specific terms.

Visit other sites related to yours and consider exchanging links with them. That means that in exchange for you placing a link on your site to another, the site owner will return the favor. Send them an email asking whether or not they are willing to exchange with you. They are likely to agree to it since you both benefit from it.

If you do not have a page on a social networking site, then create one. However, like most of the world, you probably already have one or more pages. Place a link to your website on your social networking page so that all of your online friends can check it out. You could also make occasional posts or status updates about your website, just be careful not to do it too frequently. You could turn some people away.

Find a online message board that you like and participate. Place a link in your signature. Every time you make a new contribution to a discussion, your signature will appear, which means free advertisement for your site. There is little effort involved in setting it up and even less once it is set. It works best if the message board is related to your site. You can show off some of your knowledge about your niche and begin building your online reputation.

Your outgoing emails can also have your signature. Most email accounts allow you to easily set up a signature that automatically attaches to all of your outgoing email. So, at the end of every new email is an invitation to your website.

Finally, one of the most common sense techniques and the most commonly used is the bookmark function. Encourage visitors to bookmark your site to their web browsers and their social networking pages by adding a button to your site in a conspicuous area. This will allow visitors to easily and voluntarily save your site.

Other methods of free advertisement exist, but these are probably some of the easiest methods. Website promotion is more time consuming than difficult. These techniques do not promise the greatest amount of traffic, but they are simple to do and get you off to a good start. Currently Logged in as: Tony JallitPricing | Copyright (c) 2010 My
