I had a WD book prior to buying this external backup, after 2 yrs the WD took a dive and the warranty expert said too bad I'll have to pay for service. well that did it for me I will never buy another WD product again. This ST905004EXA101-RK runs quite and downloads quickly I just drag and drop files that I want backed up. inexpensive from Amazon comparted to other online and brick/ mortar stores by at least $20-$30.
So far so good I would recommend ST905004EXA101-RK to my friends.

Although I have not had my external for very long and don't have much to compare to, it has does everything I want it to with ease. There isn't any instruction included on how to work it, but you literally just plug and play. I read reviews before buying this product (because I am not an experienced buyer of an external hard drive)and this particular brand was rated pretty high. In combo with the great low price and fast shipping, this was a super deal!

I bought ST905004EXA101-RK hard drive when I saw that it was on sale at amazon.com. I like this type of hard drive for backing up data because it is compact (fits in a safe deposit box) and does not require external power. I had previously bought Western Digital hard drives and was happy with these until they began shipping them with SmartWare, which I found to be an incredible nuisance that I could not remove from the drive.
I prefer the kind of drive that can be completely reformatted and can be used without any external software. I have been very pleased with the Seagate product and would highly recommend ST905004EXA101-RK to anyone looking for a portable hard drive that can be used with Macs or PCs.
